According to Chris Kwaja, a professor of international relations and strategic studies at Modibbo Adama University in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria needs ambassadors in order to play a significant role in international affairs.
In an interview with Arise Television on Tuesday, Prof. Kwaja made this statement in response to queries.
He claims that Nigeria is excluded from discussions in the international community in the absence of the ambassadors.
“It has huge diplomatic implications for a country like Nigeria,” he said. You must have operational missions if you want to play a significant role in the global system. The president of this nation must be represented by your ambassadors.
We currently lack ambassadors in what are known as Grade A nations, such as Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and others, as well as a permanent representative at the UN level. You’re lacking that.
It implies that you are completely excluded from discussions about trade, security, the military, and other matters that ought to concern Nigeria.
