Zinedine Zidane, the former Real Madrid midfielder and manager, has expressed his views on Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal.
Zidane praised the 17-year-old’s performance in Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League semi-final loss to Inter Milan, stating he has never seen anyone like him before.
Barcelona was eliminated from the competition by Inter Milan, losing 7-6 on aggregate
Although the Calalans did not advance in the competition, Yamal has received widespread praise from both fans and pundits for his performances in the two-legged match earlier this month.
In an interview as quoted by MARCA, Zidane waxed lyrical about Yamal: When you see him play, for example in the semi-finals against Inter… I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.
„Er ist jemand, der auf dem Platz so viel Kontrolle hat… It’s wonderful to see him in that way. Everyone enjoys spending time with him, which is why Lamine is the player that all the young players look up to,” he said.
This season, Yamal has astonished many with his performance for Barcelona.
In 55 matches in various competitions, the young player has netted 18 goals and provided 25 assists.
The international from Spain is in the running for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
