Yerima Lawan Mahmud has been confirmed as the Commissioner for the Ministry of Livestock Development by the Yobe State House of Assembly.
Following Governor Mai Mala Buni’s nomination, the confirmation was conducted in accordance with Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The House Majority Leader, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, led the debate on the motion and clarified that Mahmud was entitled to “floor privilege” under the Assembly’s standing rules because he was a former lawmaker. He was able to take his oath of office without having to answer the standard screening questions thanks to the privilege.The appointee, according to Yusuf, was a man of integrity who had meritoriously served Yobe State in a variety of roles.
Through the newly established Ministry, his portfolio is anticipated to increase agricultural productivity and strengthen the state’s livestock industry.
