The new Yobe State Grand Khadi, Abba Alhaji Mammadi, has assured that Shari’ah courts will soon integrate technology into their operations to speed up the delivery of justice in the state.
The top Shari’ah jurist made this promise while speaking to journalists shortly after taking the oath of office and allegiance at the Banquet Hall of the Government House.
As the 7th Grand Khadi since Yobe’s creation in 1991, Mammadi said, “As the new Grand Khadi of Yobe State, my ambition is to leverage technology within the Shari’ah system to improve justice delivery.
“Currently, we rely on lengthy written records during court proceedings, but colleagues in other jurisdictions have already started using technology.
“So, one of my goals is to introduce technology into the Shari’ah system here to align with modern practices.”
Shari’ah courts are judicial bodies that apply Islamic law to resolve disputes and administer justice among Muslims in most Northern Nigerian states.
They operate alongside conventional courts and handle civil matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and family issues.
