In order to increase electricity, the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) has stated that it is prepared to train at least 1,500 engineers and technicians. This was said in Abuja during a one-day Stakeholders’ Engagement for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) by Mr. Ahmed Nagode, Director-General of NAPTIN. “Building a Skilled and Sustainable Workforce for NESI Transformation” is the theme of the engagement under the project Enhancing Vocational Training Delivery for the Nigerian Power Sector, which is funded by the EU-AFD Project and organized in collaboration with NAPTIN by the Consortium of Colenco Nigeria and AETS (France). Building a trained and sustainable workforce for NESI transformation was the engagement’s topic, according to Nagode, and it was quite educational. Infrastructure remained unused, investments underperformed, and the country’s goal of stable and reasonably priced power would remain unattainable without a sustainable skilled workforce, according to Nagode.He claims that NAPTIN, the top power sector capacity development organization in the country, is well aware of the link between sector performance and people capability. “We saw that problems still exist in spite of our continued efforts.
