Hugo Broos, the head coach of South Africa, has stated that their 2-0 loss to Mexico in the first match of the 2026 World Cup was caused by a lack of tactical poise.
Hugo also mentioned costly individual mistakes made by their co-hosts.
The Mexicans won all three points in front of their supporters thanks to goals from Julián Quiñones and Raúl Jiménez. Bafana Bafana were reduced to nine men when Sphephelo Sithole and Themba Zwane were shown straight red cards.
