Salihu Lukman, a former national vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has voiced dissatisfaction with the ruling party’s current situation, pointing to a divergence from its original goals.
Lukman, a founding member of the APC, noted that recent developments within the party’s ranks have been depressing and claimed that the party has failed to uphold the ideals that led to its formation.
According to the DAILY POST, the former APC leader is now a member of the African Democratic Congress, or ADC.
Speaking on The Morning Show on Arise Television on Monday, Lukman said that although opposition party crises are frequently the focus of attention, the APC is also dealing with internal conflicts that may lead to unanticipated difficulties.
He expresses confidence that Nigerians will ultimately make educated decisions and select the ADC, claiming that politics is still a contest of ideas and interests.
“Having been one of the founding members of the APC and knowing the vision that drove us to form the APC, I can tell you that I feel disappointed,” he stated. It is quite depressing to see where APC is right now.
For example, even though they talk about reaching a consensus by now, a check reveals that all of the state-level agreements have fallen apart.
You see, when you discuss the opposition party’s crisis, the ruling party is also dealing with internal conflicts that are creating the kind of unease that may have been unanticipated.
“As I have stated numerous times in your programme, politics is about contestation, and we are prepared to face the current state of affairs.” And we think Nigerians will ultimately make the best decision.
