Ahead of the general elections in 2027, members of the Plateau State House of Assembly have unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu.
During a solidarity visit to Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the newly appointed chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Abuja on Tuesday, the lawmakers who supported the president also strongly cautioned opposition parties against traveling to the state to campaign for the 2027 presidential election.
They said the state had already been won by the ruling APC.
Speaker of the Assembly Daniel Naanlanlon Gapyil stated during the visit that the lawmakers will organize all of their resources to support Tinubu and campaign for him, as well as to energize all of the party’s institutions in the state to ensure his victory.
Gapyil pointed out that even if the state is led by a PDP governor, the APC is powerful enough to remove the current leader from office because of the recent wave of PDP defectors to the APC.
Gapyil emphasized the APC’s strength in the state and claimed that the necessary arrangements had been made to bring Tinubu back in 2027.
“Though it might sound strange to people who are not conversant with the strength of the party, a lot of work is being done underground to see that the ruling party becomes a dominant force,” he added.
The Speaker also gave the newly appointed APC national chairman the assurance that, in the eyes of the House, the APC is the only party in the state and that it would be foolish for other political parties to consider campaigning there.
In response, Yilwatda emphasized that the APC is still the best party to address Nigeria’s issues and urged the MPs to expand their power beyond Plateau in order to support Tinubu in the election.
Additionally, he exhorted them to do all effort to unseat the PDP and give the Plateau back to the APC.
