The Accord Party has encouraged Nigerians to keep hope alive despite the current economic challenges facing the country.
This message was part of the party’s goodwill statement on the occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary.
In a statement signed by National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem, Accord noted that Nigeria turned 65 on October 1, 2025, marking significant progress in its democratic journey.
The party acknowledged that despite a turbulent history—including political instability, military interventions, civil war, economic recessions, socio-religious conflicts, and security challenges—Nigerians have remained resilient and determined to build a strong, prosperous, equitable, and just democratic nation.
Accord urged citizens to unite in celebrating this historic milestone that restored self-governance to Nigeria.
“Let us keep hope alive and continue to nurture the tree of democracy until it bears abundant fruits and dividends for the people,” the statement said.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to building a better society free from oppression and pledged to pass on a clean banner to future generations.
Accord called on all levels of government to ensure the security and welfare of citizens, referencing Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“National security, safety, and order are vital for sustainable democracy and development and must be achieved,” the party emphasized.
It also urged the military to sustain the fight against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, militancy, and kidnapping, stating that this is essential to handing over a banner without stain to future generations, just as the founding fathers did.
Additionally, Accord encouraged Nigerians to actively participate in the ongoing national voter registration.
“Your vote is your voice and the power to elect credible leaders. The party is mobilizing citizens nationwide for this critical civic exercise, which will further strengthen Nigeria’s democratic process,” the statement added.
Finally, Accord expressed readiness for the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.
