Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has declared that Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals and kidnappers, DAILY POST reports.
Speaking after a State Security Council meeting in Ilorin on Tuesday, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Following a recent attack in Oke Ode, where 12 residents were killed by armed bandits, the governor quickly briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and requested additional federal support to target the bandits’ hideouts.
“The Army Headquarters has since relocated the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2nd Division to Ilorin as part of efforts to boost security operations in the state,” he said.
“On Monday night, joint forces from the Army, DSS, and Police launched an offensive near Baba Sango along the Kwara–Kogi border, neutralizing about 15 armed bandits.
“The operation continued on Tuesday, and last night I chaired the State Security Council meeting at Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin, to coordinate state and federal resources into a unified strategy for Kwara North and South.”
Governor Abdulrazaq assured residents that his administration will continue supporting security agencies to protect every community.
“I have received assurances from security forces to flush out and eliminate criminals from their hideouts. We will fight insecurity with all resources available. Kwara will not be a refuge for criminals.
“To any criminal attempting to disrupt peace in Kwara, you may run, but you cannot escape justice. Kwara belongs to its people, and their peace will be fiercely defended,” the governor said in a statement released by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Wednesday in Ilorin.
