The head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, Otto Addo, has provided a rationale for his team’s defeat against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
In the semi-finals of the Unity Cup competition held at the Gtech Community Stadium in London on Wednesday night, Addo’s team was defeated by their longstanding rivals with a score of 2-1.
Nigeria began with vigor and netted goals via Cyriel Dessers and Semi Ajayi. Substitute Thomas Asan cut the deficit for Ghana with 20 minutes remaining.
The Black Stars competed without several of their key players.
Otto asserted that his players took time to adjust to the game.
“It’s not always easy, particularly when we have players who don’t have much experience playing together,” Otto said after the game.
“The Nigerian team is more seasoned and adapted faster. We found it difficult to press, engage in one-on-one confrontations, and keep our defensive arrangement intact.
