The establishment of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission to carry out the newly signed Electricity Act in Anambra State has been approved by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
In compliance with the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025, the governor also approved the closure of all detention facilities utilized by juvenile beggars.
This was revealed in Awka on Tuesday by Law Mefor, the State Commissioner for Information, who also mentioned that the resolutions were adopted at the 10th State Executive Council meeting, which was held at the new Government House.
Mefor announced that a recruitment quest for the professionals to join the new commission has been underway.
Reports have it that the new Anambra Government House Mini City was dubbed “Light House Awka,” in keeping with the state’s theme, “Light of the Nation.”
The Council also approved a number of contracts, including the construction of a pharmaceutical-grade kaolin warehouse at the Anambra State Kaolin Plant in Ukpor, which will cost N190,482,467.94 and take eight weeks to complete, and the supply and installation of a 750 KVA transformer at the same plant, which will cost N110,114,510.60 and take six weeks to complete.
Additionally, a contract for N155,653,550.00 was approved for the purchase and delivery of operating equipment and official uniforms to Ocha Brigade in Anambra State.
