Oyindamola Apampa, a 16-year-old student, received an impressive total score of 351 on the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, which included 90 in Chemistry, 98 in Physics, 98 in Mathematics, and 65 in English Language.
Apampa, a student at Lagos’ Lagoon Secondary School, attributed the accomplishment to perseverance, forethought, and divine favor.
It was her second attempt at the UTME, according to a statement released today, which also explained that her first score of 158 was later deemed invalid because of technological difficulties at her testing location.
“I scored 158 on my first attempt at the UTME,” she remarked. However, because of technical issues that affected multiple testing locations, including mine, the results were extensively criticized and later confirmed as erroneous by the authorities.
In order to remedy these irregularities, the testing body authorized a resit. I achieved a score of 351 on the resit.
She went on to say that by creating a conducive study environment at home, her parents were instrumental in helping her academic path.
“My parents created a conducive learning environment in our house. In addition to a separate multimedia study room where the entire family frequently gathers to discuss various subjects and support one another’s learning, we have a complete library in the family living room,” she said.
Oyindamola also acknowledged that she had extra academic help from a learning center in Lekki, Lagos, which offered her UTME preparation courses and regular practice tests.
“My preparation for the UTME was greatly aided by the frequent mock exams at our learning center,” she stated.
Osayi Izedonmwen, the head of the learning center, responded by attributing the exceptional 98 percent pass rate in the 2025 UTME to the center’s hybrid learning methodology.

Academic success is not new to Apampa. According to reports, after receiving ten As and one B in her junior WAEC, she was added to her school’s honor roll.
Additionally, she has competed internationally on behalf of her school in events like the Conrad Challenge, where her team advanced to the finals and received special recognition.
