Innocent Idibia, better known by his stage as 2Face, is a Nigerian music legend and the Governor of Benue State’s Technical Advisor on Entertainment and Community Outreach. He has called the ongoing killings in some areas of the state a national emergency.
Idibia conveyed profound grief at the ongoing bloodshed, bemoaning the fact that the attacks keep happening without any long-term resolution from the government.
The renowned artist urged all Benue stakeholders to put aside their personal interests and politics in order to put an end to the situation in a video broadcast.
“My heart is heavy,” he remarked. I’m furious and really depressed. A national emergency has been declared due to the events in Benue State. It’s beyond my comprehension now. Right now, I’m not even sure what to say. This must end.
The fact that this is happening over and over again overwhelms me with despair, rage, and fury. We can no longer simply denounce this in words. There must be serious action.
“All Benue stakeholders need to work together.” This can be resolved. I think a solution exists.
