“Africa must be respected”: Davido cancels his joint performance with Mary J. Blige and 50 Cent

David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a Nigerian Afrobeats musician who has canceled his performance with American artists 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Davido declared on his Instagram account on Saturday that he would not be performing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England on July 3, 2025.

He clarified that he had withdrawn because the Iconic Presents curators had not addressed problems “pertaining to essential components necessary to maintain the integrity and caliber” of his performance.

When he called for respect for African creatives, Davido also alluded to the problem of prejudice.

He assured his London supporters that he would perform on his 5Alive tour’s Europe swing in the summer.

The musician stated that although he will not be there, the event would go forward as planned.

According to the DAILY POST, Burna Boy and Wizkid, two Nigerian musicians, have previously sold out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on their own.
