The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported that its ability to operate at peak efficiency is being hampered by the failure to pay off debts totaling N457bn owed by stakeholders in the electricity sector.
During a workshop for Power correspondent yesterday, TCN’s Executive Director of Transmission System Provider, TSP, Engr Oluwagbenga Ajiboye spoke and mentioned that the transmission subsector is also being impacted by the power sector’s heavy debt.
The legacy debt that was incurred after the privatisation and breakdown of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria has continued to prevent investments in the sector.
