As USSD billing commences, subscribers are assigning telcos the task of ensuring transparency and service quality.

Telecommunications subscribers have charged their service providers with ensuring transparency and good-quality networks, as they started the new USSD billing yesterday.

Telecommunications operators declared that starting Wednesday, June 18, 2025, mobile subscribers in the country will start paying for USSD services directly from their airtime

According to the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), the announcement supersedes a notice from several banks issued earlier this month, stating that deductions would commence on June 3.
According to ALTON, the move to end-user billing is in line with the NCC’s Determination of USSD Pricing and Services, which was created in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other important stakeholders.
