According to Yusuf Sharada, an ally of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) 2023 presidential candidate, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been trying to persuade Kwankwaso to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Sharada revealed this on Tuesday during his guest appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily show.
He claims that the APC has started to support Kwankwaso and his sociopolitical movement, Kwankwasiyya, after losing support in Kano, a state in Nigeria with a high voter turnout.
“Knowing Senator Kwankwaso’s history and large following, they have been trying to get him to join the APC,” Sharada stated. It’s their political variations, of course.
Sen. Kwankwaso refrained from joining the APC because he disagrees with their governmental actions. They have been adamant that they would like him to accompany them. They are aware that he has the numbers, particularly from Kano and the central North-Western region of the nation, which is crucial in politics.
He went on to say that the ruling party may be trying to wrest Kwankwaso away from the NNPP by using the resignation of Kwankwaso’s political rival, Abdullahi Ganduje, as the APC National Chairman.
“Perhaps the APC has refined its strategies. Because of their anti-masses policies, the masses of Nigeria no longer support them, hence they are searching for the numbers.
In order to get such numbers, particularly from that region of the country, he stated, “they now want someone that the masses of this country have hope in to join them.”
Project Save Nigeria’s National Coordinator, Sharada, stated that Kwankwaso’s supporters, who are part of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, are devoted to the former presidential candidate and await his instructions over which party to back in the 2027 election.
