The Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dewan Kudangbena Gabriel, is said to have resigned, according to a fabricated report circulating. We want to make it clear that this is a complete and utter falsehood—a lie straight out of hell.

“The Plateau State House of Assembly members, not people on the street or on social media, duly elected the Speaker. As a result, if he were to resign, it would be announced via the same constitutional avenue that allowed for his election.

circulated by some disgruntled individuals.”

“As of today, July 2, 2025, Rt. Hon. Dewan Kudangbena Gabriel continues to serve as Speaker of the 10th Plateau State House of Assembly, despite the fact that no leader holds office indefinitely and that the position is neither hereditary nor a royal appointment.”

“We urge the people to maintain composure and ignore the baseless rumor. If the Speaker chooses to step down, appropriate process will be followed, and a replacement will be named as a result. No constitutional void will exist.

“Lastly, we encourage those who make a living by spreading rumors to focus their efforts on providing security agencies with relevant information that can aid in the fight against insecurity throughout the state.”
