Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has reaffirmed his dedication to promoting harmony and peace among all citizens of the state, irrespective of their party affiliations.
On Wednesday, during the monthly covenant service held in the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, Eno provided the assurance.
“I will continue to serve the people regardless of political affiliations, even though I am currently in the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite having been elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
“Without mentioning any unfortunate incidents, I would like to use this occasion to thank the people of Akwa Ibom for their support thus far, particularly during our recent shift to the APC.
“Work has resumed. Let’s resume our work, please. We’re flagging off road construction tomorrow, and we’ll be launching a lot more within the month,” he stated.
The governor added that the state’s 31 Local Government Areas (LGAs) would soon begin to raise awareness among women.
“We will use seminars and cooperatives to bring our ladies together and raise their awareness across party boundaries.
The time would be used to integrate the approximately 60 Nigerian-for-women projects that are dispersed among the 31 LGAs. The World Bank and the state jointly sponsored the projects,” he stated.
Eno also praised the state’s major parties for their backing of the government.
Bishop Josephine Eggah of the New Birth Bible Church, Uyo, cautioned Christians and state residents to keep serving God in spirit and in truth during her homily.
Eggah’s speech focused on the passage from Numbers 23:21 that reads, “And the shout of the King is among them.”
She believed that God will keep using His authority and influence to benefit His people.
