Farouk Aliyu, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, claims that the 2027 presidential election is a “elite contest” rather than one involving Nigerians.
The alliance of opposition leaders attempting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu would fail, Aliyu said in an appearance on Arise TV on Monday.
He claimed that members of the ruling party were among the opposition leaders who had just formally endorsed the African Democratic Congress as their platform for the 2027 election.
“The coalition is just a collection of former APC members who have departed the party,” he stated.
They might not be a danger to democracy, but they also don’t represent a challenge to the APC. These people are merely upset with the party.
“People will not be able to unite against Tinubu and the APC because the political climate in 2027 will be different from that of 2015.” Nigerians are not the focus of this conflict; it is an elite competition.
According to the DAILY POST, on Wednesday of last week, prominent opposition figures from the People’s Democratic Party, Labour Party, and irate APC members adopted the ADC as a platform to force the ruling party out of the State House.
