The federal government has formally established 16 as the minimum age requirement for enrollment in the nation’s postsecondary educational institutions.
Additionally, the government issued a warning that any admissions made outside of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) would be considered unlawful, and individuals involved would be prosecuted.
This was said by Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, during the commencement of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) current Policy Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
He warned that administrators who engaged in admissions fraud would face legal action.
Alausa revealed that the 16-year-old minimum entry age set by the government is definite and cannot be changed.
