During an air interdiction mission at Zuwa, a recently discovered hideout in the Sambisa forest area of Borno State, the Nigerian Air Force component of Operation Hadin Kai killed at least 15 terrorists and demolished their structures.
The operation was conducted on September 3 at approximately 11:50 a.m., according to military sources, after intelligence in July identified insurgents escaping from prolonged ground operations in the Bitta axis.
According to reports, the terrorists’ movement along a river line that ran from Bitta to Zuwa was established by intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions carried out by Grey Raptor platforms.
Our crew saw terrorist structures with multiple fighters in ISWAP uniforms over the western portion of Zuwa. It was clear that the area had developed into a significant focal point. The targets were then struck with precision-guided strikes, according to one of the sources.
According to the sources, the airstrikes destroyed the hideout and killed over 15 fighters. According to reports, the operation was a follow-up to the battle in Bitta on July 28, where ground forces drove out a number of rebels.
Until Boko Haram and ISWAP remnants are eradicated from the Northeast, Operation Hadin Kai troops and the air component have committed to continuing joint strikes, reconnaissance, and close air support missions.
