Nigeria introduces its own Airboat to fight smuggling.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Defense Research and Development Bureau (DRDB) have successfully tested a domestically constructed airboat in an effort to improve maritime security and fight smuggling. Jabi Lake in Abuja served as the testing ground for the Nigerian-designed and built airboat.

NCS and DRDB officials were present to examine the ship and see its test run.

The airboat is a vital tool in the fight against smuggling because it is specifically made to navigate shallow and difficult-to-reach waterways. The NCS will be able to increase its efficacy and reach in preventing illegal activity because to its special capabilities.
Nigeria’s increasing ability to innovate and build its own technology is demonstrated by the airboat’s successful test.

Abdullahi Maiwada (PhD), Assistant Comptroller of Customs (ACC) and NCS National Public Relations Officer, said Monday that the partnership between the NCS and DRDB shows the government’s dedication to bolstering maritime security and safeguarding the country’s borders.
