Dele Momodu, an African Democratic Congress (ADC) member, has urged Dumebi Kachikwu, the party’s former presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023, not to destroy the party.
Momodu made this statement on Friday while answering questions during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
In addition, Kachikwu is my beloved brother. He gave me his reasons for fighting when I called his office to talk to him.
“I would like to correct one thing. A former presidential candidate does not automatically become the party’s sole proprietor. I was a presidential candidate in 2011 on the platform of the National Conscience Party, which was co-founded by the great lawyer Gani Fawehinmi.
Even one of today’s greatest politicians, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, cannot claim to be the owner of the NNPP. Even the most seasoned politician of our time, Atiku Abubakar, does not claim to be the head of any party.
As the party’s founders, Nigerian politicians would say they would agree, but I’m not sure where this new sense of entitlement originates.
The PDP was founded by a few individuals, but they no longer hold sway over the organization. That’s the reality.
With all due respect to my brother Kachikwu, please refrain from allowing anyone to break coconuts with your head. It’s not required. Don’t murder this adorable infant (ADC). It’s a newborn. And you ought to be pleased that some individuals are expanding your party beyond its original boundaries,” he said.
