Timi Frank, a political activist, has cautioned that if the upcoming general elections in 2027 are not credible, Nigeria would experience turmoil similar to that of Nepal.
To guarantee a free, fair, and credible election, Frank encouraged the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, to enact crucial reforms before to the polls.
He emphasised that Nigeria is likely to experience increased danger of violence and political instability akin to the 2020 ENDSARS protest in the absence of immediate reforms and moral leadership from electoral and security institutions.
This was stated in an Abuja statement by the former All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
In order to ensure free and fair elections in 2027, he urged US President Donald Trump and other international players to exert pressure on the Nigerian government, particularly INEC and the National Assembly, to prioritize electoral reforms.
With Mahmood Yakubu’s term coming to an end, Frank also demanded that a new INEC chairman with a track record of honesty be chosen.

Security agencies must be unbiased and stop their usual role in rigging elections for the ruling party.
“They must protect voters and prevent political violence. Failure to do so risks pushing Nigeria into a situation worse than Nepal’s recent unrest, given our challenges with poverty and tyranny”, he said.
