Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has revealed how some of her husband’s long-time political allies abandoned him during the 2023 presidential election.
In her newly launched 52-page book, The Journey of Grace: Giving Thanks in All Things,released to celebrate her 65th birthday, she disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had been nurturing the ambition of becoming president for over 14 years.
She explained that despite past relationships, many of those expected to support him either withdrew quietly or chose to wait and see how events would unfold. While some consultations were positive, others were uncertain or outright discouraging.
Reflecting on the experience, she said she learned that true reward comes only from God, not from people.
The First Lady emphasized that she bears no grudges, saying the Holy Spirit helped her to forgive and move on.
“Letting go was the choice I made. Doing good is what truly matters,” she wrote, citing Acts 10:38 about Jesus Christ going about doing good.
She added that people should never put their full trust in man, as human support is only temporary and guided by God’s will. Quoting Jeremiah 17:5–8 and Hebrews 12:2, she urged believers to look to Jesus as the ultimate source of strength and fulfillment.
