The Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission, TSIEC, has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring free, fair, and transparent local government elections across the state.
During a courtesy visit to traditional rulers in the central zone, TSIEC Chairman, Dr. Philip Duwe, represented by Commissioner Johnson Warwar, assured that the Commission is fully ready to adhere to all electoral laws and best practices for credible polls.
“Our goal is to deliver a free, fair, and credible election that every Taraban will accept,” Warwar said.
As part of its preparations, the Commission announced that training for ad-hoc staff would begin on October 18, 2025. The local government elections are set for November 8, ahead of the expiration of the current councils’ tenure on November 18.
According to the Commission, the visit to the traditional council is part of a wider stakeholder engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration with community leaders to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
TSIEC also urged traditional rulers to promote peace and sensitize their communities before, during, and after the elections.
In response, the traditional rulers commended the Commission’s proactive efforts and pledged their support for a peaceful election. They also praised Governor Agbu Kefas for his achievements in education, peace-building, aviation, and infrastructure development across the state.
Additionally, TSIEC has been engaging civil society organizations, NGOs, women’s and youth groups to ensure broad participation and awareness in the electoral process.
