Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Jibrin Okutepa, has described the appointment of Professor Joash Amupitan as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the best decision made by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s *Sunday Politics*, Okutepa praised Amupitan’s integrity and credibility, saying he has the competence to lead the Commission following the end of Professor Mahmoud Yakubu’s tenure.
He urged the new INEC Chairman to remain upright and resist corruption, emphasizing the need to rebuild public confidence in the electoral system.
Okutepa also clarified that Amupitan was not part of President Tinubu’s legal team during the 2023 election petition tribunal.
Describing the appointment as excellent, he said Amupitan’s vast experience in evidence, electoral jurisprudence, and administration makes him well-suited for the role.
