According to Engineer Gbenga Komolafe, Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the 43 Field Development Plans (FDPs) registered this year have the potential to liberate 7.7 trillion cubic feet of gas and 1.7 billion barrels of petroleum. On Monday, November 10, 2025, Komolafe made the announcement during the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists’ (NAPE) 43rd Annual International Conference and Exhibition (AICE) in Lagos. These FDPs showed a return to investment, according to the CCE, which was represented by Emmanuel Mac-Jaja, the Commission’s Director of Subsurface Development.With over $20 billion in committed funding, 43 new Field Development Plans (FDPs) were authorized in 2025 alone, opening up 1.7 billion barrels of oil and 7.7 trillion cubic feet of gas, he said.
