According to Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), incidents involving disruptive passengers, staff disputes, stakeholder tensions, and non-compliance with safety procedures pose a threat to the hard-won advancements in safety and service excellence. She urged a coordinated and aggressive response, stating that stakeholders must acknowledge that conflict is a reality rather than just a disruption.At this year’s FAAN Aviation Safety Week in Lagos, Kuku gave a speech on the topic of “Navigating Conflict for a Safer Aviation in Nigeria.” Hon. Yakubu Dati, a former general manager of the authority’s public affairs department and former commissioner for information in Plateau State, supported her claims in his keynote speech, stating that the sector had seen “a significant increase in incidents involving unruly passengers over the past decade, posing serious challenges to operational efficiency and, at times, compromising aviation safety.”
