The Jigawa State Police Command has issued a strong warning against violence, lawlessness, and reprisal attacks to both farmers and herdsmen in the state. This warning was delivered by the Commissioner of Police, CP. Dahiru Muhammad, during a meeting with key stakeholders from the Gishinawo and Abangawa villages in the Kirikasamma Local Government Area, which recently experienced a clash between the two groups, resulting in injuries and property damage. The Commissioner explained that the purpose of the gathering was to encourage understanding, prevent further escalation, and establish permanent harmony between the two communities. Expressing serious concern over the incident, he emphasized that maintaining peace and security is a duty shared by everyone. He urged farmers and herders to continue engaging through dialogue and mutual respect, stating that peaceful coexistence is vital for socio-economic progress. CP Muhammad stressed that the Command “would not tolerate any act of violence, lawlessness, or reprisal attacks,” adding that offenders will face the full force of the law. He assured the communities that the Police have implemented immediate measures to prevent a repeat of the clash and to ensure justice and fairness. During the meeting, stakeholders collectively committed to peace and agreed to reinforce their local methods for resolving conflicts.
