The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State has issued a warning to Senator Dino Melaye, demanding he stop claiming to be a member of their party. Tayo John, the state ADC Public Relations Officer, announced this in Lokoja on Friday, stating clearly that Melaye is not affiliated with the party. He gave reasons for the warning, pointing to Melaye’s repeated involvement in the party’s affairs and his ongoing criticism of the organization. According to John, the party’s state leadership remains independent, emphasizing there has been no merging with individuals he called “marauders” like Melaye, who falsely assert membership in the ADC. John explicitly stated that Dino Melaye is not a member of the ADC in Kogi state and is not registered in their party at his ward level. Consequently, John asserted that Melaye holds no standing within the party and cannot speak on behalf of the ADC in Kogi State. The spokesperson further dismissed Melaye as merely a creator of content for social media, whose purpose is to generate meaningless noise and act for the sake of content. He concluded that Melaye is an imposter whose activities do not match those of the African Democratic Congress and, therefore, has no influence over the selection of the party’s leadership.
