The Federal Road Safety Corps’ Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, has given his approval for important senior officers to be redeployed throughout the nation.
The redeployments included 24 Corps Commanders, two Assistant Corps Marshals, and three recently appointed Deputy Corps Marshals, according to a statement released on Saturday and signed by the corps spokesman, Olusegun Ogungbemide.
The statement claims that the modifications are meant to improve performance and fortify the Corps’ leadership structure in keeping with its mission to promote safer road use throughout Nigeria.”The Department of Motor Vehicle Administration will now be overseen by the redeployed senior officers, Deputy Corps Marshal Aliyu Datsama, the former Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Special Duties and External Relations Department; DCM Pauline Olaye, who was in charge of the Project Implementation Office at the National Headquarters, will take over Special Duties and External Relations, while DCM Ahmed Hassan, the Deputy Corps Marshal Technical Service Department, will continue to serve as DCM TSD at the National Headquarters, Abuja,” the statement read. Along with the aforementioned, the Corps Marshal also authorized the redeployment of Assistant Corps Marshal Godwin Omiko, who previously oversaw the ACM Motor Vehicle Administration Department, to lead the Project Implementation Office. ACM Emmanuel Dung, who also serves as the Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of the Corps Safety Engineering Office, will return to his position at the national headquarters as the ACM Motor Vehicle Administration.
Sector Commanders in several states, including Ekiti, Plateau, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Minna, Kogi, Bayelsa, Taraba, Jigawa, Osun, Imo, and Zamfara have also been newly appointed.
The statement added that in a historic development, the Corps has appointed Corps Commander Ann Odeleye as Acting Zonal Commanding Officer of RS Zone 2 Lagos, covering Lagos and Ogun States. She becomes the first female officer to hold this position in the Corps’ history.
The Corps Marshal expressed strong confidence in the leadership and capabilities of the newly posted officers, urging them to deploy their experience and professionalism in driving the Corps’ safety mandate.
The statement further stated, “The redeployments take immediate effect.”
