Jake Epelle, the founder of TAF Africa, publicly urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to concentrate on his responsibilities as minister and cease interfering with Rivers State affairs.
Epelle made this statement on Tuesday during an interview on The Morning Brief on Channels Television, responding to the persistent political turmoil in Rivers State.
He emphasized that Wike is not the political “godfather” of the state, arguing that “godfatherism” is an incompatible “African political ideology” that has no place in a democratic system and will ultimately fail.
Epelle asserted that Wike must abandon the notion of absolute control over the residents of Rivers State, saying, “You cannot hold the Rivers people by their jugular and think that whatever you say must happen, and whatever you didn’t say must not happen.”
He predicted that determined and resilient citizens will emerge to oppose this control and “keep speaking truth to power.”
Epelle concluded by simply telling Wike to confine his activities to Abuja as the FCT Minister and “leave Rivers State and its people alone.”
