There is no terrorist safe haven in Nigeria, according to the army chief.

Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu has declared that the Nigerian Army will relentlessly pursue terrorists and bandits, leaving them no place to hide in the country’s forests, deserts, or national parks. During an operational visit to the 2 Division in Ibadan, he commended the troops’ recent successes and directed them to increase night operations and secure difficult terrains to restrict criminal movement. Specifically addressing security concerns in Kwara, Kainji Lake, and Old Oyo National Parks, the Army Chief issued orders to clear these areas of all criminal elements. He emphasized the importance of leadership and discipline, encouraging officers to lead from the front to ensure mission success. Additionally, Shaibu addressed soldier welfare, promising that all entitlements would be paid on time and announcing new barracks construction and renovation projects to improve living conditions. He concluded by stating that high morale and better welfare are essential for maintaining the military’s advantage and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
