Yuletide: FCTA Operation Sweep searches parking lots and eliminates offenders

The Federal Capital Territory Administration’s special security task force, Operation Sweep, recently conducted raids on motor parks and other key locations in Abuja to eliminate criminal activity ahead of the holiday season. Dr. Peter Olumuji, representing the FCTA’s Security Services Department, stated that the exercise follows a direct order from Minister Nyesom Wike to ensure the territory is safe for residents during and after the festivities. The operation has successfully dismantled illegal motor parks used by “one-chance” kidnappers and demolished shanties serving as hideouts for miscreants. Officials warned that there is no longer a safe haven for criminals in the FCT, noting that numerous arrests have been made and rogue taxi drivers have been dislodged. Beyond these raids, security personnel have been stationed at known crime hotspots to maintain a heightened presence. The FCTA also advised park and event center operators to strictly vet the identities of motorists working in their vicinity. Local transport union leaders have praised the initiative, noting that it has significantly helped sanitize transportation services and protect passengers from criminal elements.
