The Director of Airworthiness Standards (DAWS) at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) was transferred to the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) as part of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development’s reorganization of some agency directorates. All facets of civil aviation are governed by the NCAA, the highest aviation regulatory body. Ten seconds at 00:00/00:00According to Daily Trust, Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister, allowed the NCAA reorganization after being made aware of certain regulatory violations.Alhaji Ahmad Abba became the new Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, while Engineer Isaac Balang was transferred from the Directorate of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards (DAAS) to Airworthiness, one of the NCAA’s highly technical directorates. Our reporter was informed by Ministry sources that the change in the airworthiness requirements was more than just an administrative measure. It was discovered that a few former airworthiness standard officials had warned about several regulatory errors in the directorate that would endanger air safety.
