According to analyst Jega, Tinubu is not to blame for US military operations in Nigeria.

Arise Television news analyst Mahmud Jega has stated that President Bola Tinubu should not be held responsible for the recent United States military strikes in Northern Nigeria. Speaking on the Morning Show, Jega argued that the operation is unlikely to significantly impact the 2027 elections unless security conditions worsen dramatically in the near future. He noted that the Tinubu administration had previously contested President Donald Trump’s characterization of Nigerian insecurity as a religious genocide, clarifying instead that the nation faces a broader crisis of terrorism and banditry. Jega highlighted that the government successfully pushed back against this narrative and engaged in high-level, confidential diplomatic talks with the U.S. that likely paved the way for the current coordination. He concluded that while the presence of foreign bombs is controversial, most Nigerians would welcome international assistance in providing intelligence and resources to combat long-standing insecurity.
