The Benue government praises Ochai, the organizers of the Idoma International Carnival.

The Benue State Government has praised the organizers of the Idoma International Carnival, specifically highlighting the leadership of founder Prince Edwin Ochai for his dedication to cultural advocacy and youth development. Shadrach Ukuma, Director-General of the State Bureau for Arts, Culture and Tourism, delivered the commendation during the 2025 festival in Otukpo, noting that the event has successfully placed Benue on the global cultural map. Beyond entertainment, the state views the carnival as a vital instrument for economic empowerment and a deterrent to youth restiveness by creating jobs within the creative and tourism sectors. Ukuma reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting such heritage-focused initiatives and encouraged private investors to help elevate the carnival into a premier international destination. Prince Ochai echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that active community participation is essential for preserving Idoma traditions for future generations.
