Ebonyi: Onu, the chairman of the factional ADC, rejects suspension and threatens legal action

Barrister Silas Onu, the factional chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State, has denied being suspended from the party.

“Grounds for his suspension include financial exploitation of party members, thus painting a picture of me as a fraudster without justification or basis,” Onu stated in a statement released on Friday.

“People are free to engage in politics however they see fit. However, both the publisher and the people who made the statement will be held accountable in a defamation lawsuit if that insanity includes disparaging someone else’s reputation without a legitimate or reasonable basis.

“I have requested that these people’s identities and addresses be determined so that my attorney can get in touch with them right away to inform them of my plan to file a defamation lawsuit.

They will have the chance to prove their claims that I am a fraudster thanks to this.

Onu vowed to take those responsible for the “purported” suspension to court.

According to reports, the Acting Chairman and Secretary of the ADC in Obiozara Ward announced the suspension.

To be clear, there are no Acting Executives in any of the 171 wards in Ebonyi State; instead, substantive leaders are currently in charge of each ward’s operations. Mr. Godwin Njoku, the chairman of Obiozara Ward, will never support such a notorious endeavor.

In response to the suspension, ADC Ohaozara LGA Chairman Engr. Chinedum Elekwachi said that neither Peter Obinna nor Akuma Martins, who signed the suspension letter in their capacities as Chairman and Secretary, Obiozara Ward, are recognized or registered members of ADC.

Elekwachi claims that Mr. Godwin Njoku is the legitimately elected Chairman of the ADC in Obiozara Ward.

“At the ward level and throughout the entire Ebonyi State ADC structure, there is nothing like “acting chairman,” he declared.
