General Jafar Mohamed Gajare, a former military officer, has expressed his intention to run for the Kebbi South Senatorial District seat on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform in the 2027 general elections.
Gajare got his Expression of Interest and Nomination papers in Abuja, stating that his choice to run was motivated by a desire to contribute to national progress, particularly in the areas of security and economic strength.
He stated that if elected to the National Assembly, he will bring nearly three decades of military experience to bear.
“By God’s grace, I will run for Senator in the Kebbi South Senatorial District,” he stated.
Speaking about his program, the retired general stated that insecurity remains a serious concern in Kebbi State and throughout the country, and that he will prioritize legislative support for security reforms and economic development.
“My people confront several security challenges, so I will make every effort to contribute in that area. “With my 32 years of military experience, I believe I have something to offer,” he remarked.Gajare refuted allegations of an internal crisis inside the Kebbi APC, claiming he had a good relationship with Governor Nasir Idris. “My relationship with the governor is excellent and cordial. He is loved by his constituents because of the wonderful work he is doing in the state,” he stated.
Gajare dismissed claims that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could provide a major challenge in Kebbi, stating that the APC maintains strong authority.
