Award-winning Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin talked candidly about his upbringing, saying that it was “messy” and that his mother raised him alone after his father left them.
In an open interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo, Franklin revealed that his father’s absence had a detrimental effect on his life and that he eventually turned to drugs to make up for it.
“When I was younger, I was a hot mess. My father left me. “I turned to drugs because my mum raised me alone,” Franklin remarked.
He claimed that his mother’s efforts and encouragement helped him overcome the addiction.
He gave his mother credit for both his professional and personal success.
The actor emphasised that being a single parent is difficult and that children—especially boys—need a father figure in their lives.
