Senator Muhammadu Danjuma Goje has distanced himself from the results of the Gombe Central All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election, claiming that the results being disseminated are false.
Shortly after it was reported that retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohammed Ahmadu had won the race, the lawmaker’s stance was expressed in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Assistant, Ahmed Isa Kashere.
Ahmadu received 42,785 votes and Goje received 10,425 in the Gombe State election, according to unofficial figures credited to Dr. Habu Dahiru, the returning officer.
Many observers have connected the reported outcome to the escalating rivalry among important party figures ahead of the 2027 general elections, which has sparked political reactions within the APC.
Goje insisted that the party’s national leadership had not made an official statement in spite of the reports.
He urged Gombe Central Senatorial District residents to disregard what he called “false and misleading election results” in the statement.
The senator further contended that the only entity with the authority to formally declare the results of the primary election is the APC leadership at the national level.
