Andy Townsend, a former midfielder for Chelsea, has suggested that when new manager Xabi Alonso takes over at Stamford Bridge, he should play goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
When the following season begins, Townsend thinks Sanchez will disappoint Alonso in crucial situations.
Alonso was named Chelsea’s new manager on a four-year contract after Liam Rosenior was fired, and he will take over in July.
Townsend told BetVictor, “I believe Chelsea needs a goalkeeper.”
“I think Robert Sanchez is just one of those goalkeepers that will let you down in a crucial moment, even though he has had one or two better outings lately.
“He has a flaw, and a flaw is never too far away.”
