After spending the season on loan with the Italian team, Rasmus Hojlund completed a £43 million transfer from United to Napoli.
The Danish striker, who United paid £64 million to acquire from Atalanta in 2023, has struggled throughout his two seasons at Old Trafford.
Hojlund scored 16 goals in all competitions last season after being loaned to Napoli after scoring 14 goals in the Premier League over two seasons. His Champions League qualification led to a long-term transfer to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The promise Hojlund displayed when he celebrated a goal with Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho—the three young players sitting on an advertisement hoarding—was never realized in England, even though he won the 2024 FA Cup with United.
Hojlund will cost Napoli roughly £38.5 million up front, with the remaining sum coming from agreements made for the loan during the previous campaign.
After Napoli qualified for the Champions League, Hojlund posted on social media, saying, “That feels weird, because for the past year I already feel like a Napoli player.” “I’m really appreciative of how you fans helped me, made me feel at home, and allowed me to regain my confidence.”
