Ikenne, located in Ogun state, has been officially designated by the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) as the host city for the 2024/2025 Super Six Playoff tournament.
The NWFL season-ending championship will occur from Thursday, May 8, to Sunday, May 17, 2025
Teams are scheduled to arrive in Ikenne on Thursday, May 8, with the tournament draw and pre-match meeting set for Friday, May 9.
Utilizing a round-robin format, this crucial event will guarantee that all six teams involved play five matches each, thereby promoting competition.
Up to this point, four women’s clubs from the NWFL have successfully secured their spots in the tournament: Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens, and Remo Stars Ladies
The ultimate sixth position will be decided following a clash on matchday 14, with Robo Queens facing Naija Ratels on Wednesday, resulting in an exciting conclusion to the regular season.
Keep in mind that Edo Queens garnered attention after winning the NWFL title for the first time last season.
In a related development, Daniel Ogunmodede, head coach of Remo Stars, has named midfielder Olamilekan Adedayo the club’s Player of the Season.
Adedayo delivered an outstanding performance, which included netting the crucial goal that secured Remo Stars’ first Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) championship with a 1-0 win against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday. He has scored an impressive six goals during this campaign.
During a press conference, when questioned if Adedayo is the best player at Remo Stars, Ogunmodede smiled and responded, “Yes and Yes.”
