A former Bauchi LG chair was fatally stabbed in his son’s house.

Isa Muhammad Wabi, a former chairman of the Jama’are Local Government Area in Bauchi State, was assassinated in an early-morning attack that was allegedly carried out by his son’s associates.

Ahmed Wakil, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, confirmed the event in a statement released on Friday.

“On the morning of Friday, May 2, 2025, at approximately 0403 hours, a good samaritan called the police command to report a group of young people attacking the government Girls’ Secondary School in Bauchi at Fadaman Mada,” Wakil added.

A committed group of officers was sent to the location in response. They discovered that Mr. Isa Muhammad Wabi, a 66-year-old former chairman of Jama’are LGA, was critically injured in the incident. For immediate medical assistance, he was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.

According to Wakil, initial inquiries showed that the victim was assaulted by friends of his 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed. He said, “The investigation suggests that Ahmad Abdulkadir, also known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, referred to as Ajebo, had entered the home around 0300 hours and subsequently conspired to assault Mr Wabi.

He sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck. He was also taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.”

The PPRO revealed that one of the suspects, Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene, likely due to retaliatory action.

The statement revealed that Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed has been taken into custody for questioning and has cooperated, providing valuable information to the authorities.

Wakil hinted that the command is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances of this unfortunate incident and ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice.
