Plateau Murders: Police Find Weapons, Arrest More Suspects

Additional individuals have been taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in relation to the recent killings and attacks in Plateau State.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, stated in a statement on Monday that three further suspects had been taken into custody and that firearms had also been found.

According to Adejobi, the arrests and recoveries came about as a result of police operations based on reliable intelligence in relation to the Plateau killings, which claimed many lives.

Three more individuals have been taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force in relation to the recent killings in Plateau State. IRT-affiliated police officers have launched a number of effective operations aimed at criminal conspiracy, gunrunning, and illegal gun ownership that are closely connected to past events in the state.

On May 3, 2025, at approximately 4:30 PM, a group of IRT agents acting on reliable information captured Abubakar Jibrin from Kalone Community, Shendam LGA, Plateau State, in a targeted operation. It was discovered that Jibrin was illegally in possession of weapons that were forbidden. One SMG gun with an empty magazine was found at Jibrin’s home after his arrest as a result of his confession.

In addition to these successes, police officers found two fake revolver rifles in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, on May 4, 2025. The weapons were connected to cartridges that came from a suspect named Ismail Danjuma, who is currently being held and cooperating with the investigation into the Plateau killings.

These latest operations show how dedicated the Nigeria Police Force is to making sure that everyone involved in these heinous murders is held accountable and subjected to the full force of the law, the statement said.BASEMEDIA News reports the spokesperson added that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, urges members of the public to maintain calmness, continue providing crucial information and unalloyed support that can aid efforts of the NPF in restoring peace in these disturbed areas and other parts of the country.
