Former Real Madrid midfielder, Alvaro Benito has slammed Vinicius for his display during the Los Blancos’ LaLiga El Clasico 4-3 defeat to Barcelona on Sunday.
Benito labelled the Brazilian international’s performance as disgraceful, calling for him be taken off during the encounter at Camp Nou.
He also criticized him for refusing to come off after asking for a substitution.
Benito stated (through Tribal Football): “But anyway… what Vinicius did is beyond words.
„It’s a disgrace, it’s a disgrace. “Remove him, remove him, remove him,” he added.
Benito cautioned Xabi Alonso, who is rumored to be taking over from Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid, that he would need to address the mentality of some players.
He added: “The coach who takes over has a lot of work ahead, as they need to change the mentality of some players. “Playing football like Vinicius—defending with his eyes, avoiding returns, not marking, and not pressing—isn’t possible.”
